The purpose of the Vis Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration and provide practical training to students for resolving international business disputes. The business community’s marked preference for resolving international commercial disputes by arbitration is the reason this method of dispute resolution was selected as the clinical tool to train law students. The Vis East Competition is the sister competition to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. With the continuous rise in international commercial transactions and the inevitable resulting cross-border disputes in Asia, the Vis East provides law students, academics, and professionals with a similar exposure to, and experience in, international arbitration and international trade law as the Vis Moot in Vienna but with an Asian twist!
