Greetings from Moot Court Association (MCA)

It gives us immense pleasure to apprise you that Moot Court Association, School of Law has successfully organized the first edition of “Surana & Surana AND UPES School of Law National Insolvency Law Moot Court Competition, 2018’ in association with its esteemed joint organizer Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai & New York. The competition was scheduled from September 28, 2018, to September 30, 2018. Our Knowledge Partner AIR Law Academy & Research Centre provided Winners, Runners-up and Team Placed Third with AIR subscription worth Rs, 1,20,000 each. Our media partner Lawctopus, no. 1 information portal among law students; helped in publicizing the event and making it of great magnitude.

Surana & Surana And UPES School of Law National Insolvency Law Moot Court Competition has been conceived with the aim of creating opportunities for learning the development of jurisprudence on emerging trends in Insolvency Law besides developing cutting-edge skills in research, writing, and advocacy.

Student teams from National Law Schools, Central Universities, State Universities, Private Universities and other top law colleges across India participated in this competition. The different rounds of the moot court competition were judged by a total of 37 subject matter experts including top industry experts, practicing advocates, academicians, judges, bureaucrats etc. from different parts of the country.

The Inaugural function was graced by Hon’ble Justice U.C. Dhyani, Chairman Public Service Tribunal, Dehradun & former Judge Uttarakhand High Court, India. The Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony was Dr. V.S. Surana, CEO and Partner, Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai & New York. The valedictory ceremony was also graced by our Guest of Honour, Advocate Sumant Batra, Managing Partner and Head, Kesar Dass B. & Associates; and Dr. Mamta Suri, Executive Director, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India.

The moot team from New Law College, BVDU, Pune was adjudged Winners while the moot team from Hidayatullah National Law University were adjudged, runners-up. Several other categories of awards were also bestowed upon on different teams/students in the valedictory ceremony.

On behalf of the entire organizing team of Moot Court Association, UPES School of Law and also from our Joint organizer Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai & New York, I would like to thank all our esteemed guests, judges, dignitaries & sponsors for their precious time & support. I would like to thank all the participants for precious time & participating in the event.
